How to make a heart balloon photo backdrop for wedding events, birthdays and milestones

My son’s 8 month milestone fell on Valentine’s Day so I was looking for an aesthetic backdrop that was in theme. Balloons are my favorite go-to for decorations and event photo props, so I went searching for balloons with a subtle Valentine’s day theme.

The outcome of this project was perfect! I realized how perfect this backdrop would be for many other events. I am engaged and will be planning a wedding in the near future so I will definitely be using this again possible for bridal shower photos!

Items You Will Need

I found these gorgeous foil heart shaped balloons on amazon. They come in many different color as well as letters and numbers. I will definitely be repurchasing for future events and celebrations.

I purchased them in the color beige and cream white. These two colors together gave the perfect aesthetic look. Ten balloons come in each pack. I used 9 balloon total for the backdrop I created, 4 beige and 5 cream white. Of course you can use more or less depending on the pattern you want. I just used an alternating pattern.

Next you will need an open wall space and the materials to hang them up. It can get tricky trying to get balloons to stick to a wall or any other surface. The things I used are command strips and tape. I found that command strips alone don’t really stick to some balloons too well and balloon tape is just not reliable. So I taped the balloon side of the command strips to the balloon to make it more secure. I cut my command strips in half since I already had the medium sized strips. However, I would recommend the small command strips so you don’t have to do that.

After you tape the command strip to the balloon and place the wall side on the wall, stick the two together, making sure it is secure and voila!

I later did a wall with red balloons for a Valentine’s day photo shoot and I really loved the outcome! I used all red shiny heart balloons but this would have also looked great with pink mixed in!
